Foi Bonita a Festa

Grace Passô

Brazilian actress, playwright, theatre director, screenwriter and filmmaker, born in Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais). She is widely recognised as one of the most singular and innovative voices in contemporary Brazilian artistic practice, with a body of work that bridges theatre, cinema and writing, marked by a strong political, poetic and performative dimension.

In theatre, she has distinguished herself as both author and performer of numerous award-winning works, becoming the first Black playwright to receive the Shell Prize, one of the most prestigious awards in Brazilian theatre. Her theatrical work has toured extensively in Brazil and internationally, establishing her as a central creator of her generation.

In cinema, she has built a solid career as an actress, appearing in key films of contemporary Brazilian cinema that have been screened and awarded at international festivals, where her performances have received wide critical acclaim.

In 2026, Grace Passô makes her feature-length fiction directing debut with Nosso Segredo, her first feature film, which will have its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) in the Perspectives section, dedicated to first works and new voices in international cinema. The film marks a new moment in her artistic trajectory, expanding into auteur cinema a language already deeply established in theatre and writing.
